Who we are, and why we exist
Ashnoor is a mustard oil brand run by a family that has been in this trade since 1998. For twenty years we sold other people's oil across a counter in Agra. That is long enough to learn which names a shopkeeper reaches for without being asked, and which ones he has to talk a customer into. In 2018 we put our own name on a bottle.
That is a harder thing than it sounds. A family does not walk in and ask for mustard oil. They ask for the one they had last time — wahi wala dena. Earning that one sentence is the entire business. It is why we would rather be plain about what is in the pack than clever about what it does. We make no health promises and no miracle claims. We promise the same oil, in the same pack, every time, carrying a batch code that leads back to a person who answers for it.
We are still a small house. These roles are open because the work has outgrown the people doing it — not because a deck said to hire. Whoever takes these seats will set how a young brand behaves for a long time.
So, who are we looking for?
Everything Ashnoor claims about itself rests on one thing: that a pack can be traced. Which lot it came from, what its test report said, when it was filled, where it went, and who signed for each of those steps. If that trail is complete, we can answer any question a customer, a buyer or an inspector asks. If it has a hole in it, we cannot — and then the honesty the brand is built on becomes a story rather than a fact.
This role owns that trail. You keep our licences and registrations current, you hold the documentation on every lot we take in, you keep batch records complete through filling and dispatch, and you run the complaint log from the first message to a closed answer.
It is quiet work, and most of the time nobody notices it. It gets noticed on the day something is wrong — and on that day, this seat decides how good our answer is. If you take real satisfaction in records being complete and in being the person who can say no, you will like it here.
What you’ll be owning
Licences, registrations and renewals
FSSAI licences, AGMARK and other certifications and registrations, renewed well before they lapse rather than in the week they do. You will hold a calendar of every statutory date that applies to us and make sure not one of them arrives as a surprise.
Incoming lot documentation
Every lot we take in comes with paperwork and test reports. You will check that the documentation is complete and consistent before that lot is used, keep it filed against the lot, and raise it clearly when something is missing or does not read right. A lot with an incomplete file does not move on your say-so.
Batch records and traceability
Batch coding, filling and packing records, and the link between an outgoing carton and the lot behind it. The test is simple and we will use it: given any batch code off any pack in the market, you should be able to produce its full trail in a working day.
Label and claim compliance
Declarations, nutritional information, net quantity, dates, statutory marks and every claim printed on a pack or used in marketing. You are the check before anything goes to print — including on the brand team's work. Where a claim is not permitted, you say so, and that is final.
The complaint log, end to end
Every complaint recorded, investigated against its batch, answered properly, and closed with a reason. You will also watch the pattern across complaints, because three of the same complaint in a month is information the business needs whether or not it wants it.
Audits and the pack floor
Preparing for and handling customer, buyer and statutory audits, and keeping hygiene, storage and handling standards where they should be at the packing floor and in the places our stock sits. Checks written down when they were done, not reconstructed the night before an audit.
What we’re looking for
2–5 years in food quality assurance, compliance or regulatory affairs, ideally in edible oils, staples or packaged foods. A degree in food technology, food science, chemistry or a related field is useful. Working knowledge of FSSAI regulations and labelling rules is essential.
Beyond the years
- You have kept real documentation systems — batch records, lot files, complaint logs — rather than only working inside someone else's.
- You have faced an audit and know what a complete file looks like when someone is examining it.
- You read regulations carefully and can explain what one actually requires, without either exaggerating it or waving it away.
- You are precise in writing. Records that are hard to read are records that fail when they are needed.
- You are willing to be the person who says no, including to people more senior than you, and to hold it.
You’re probably not right for this if
- You would find it uncomfortable to stop something that commercially everyone wants to go ahead.
- You prefer documentation to be reconstructed neatly after the fact rather than kept as the work happens.
- You are looking for a role where compliance is mainly advisory. Here it has teeth, and it is expected to use them.
How we’ll know you’re doing this well
No licence ever comes close to lapsing. Any batch code we are handed can be traced within a day. Complaints get answered properly and their patterns reach the business early. Audits are ordinary days rather than emergencies. And nothing we print claims something we cannot support.
